Diablo Black, a wine packaging design by Ximena Ureta, combines traditional winemaking with a disruptive and sophisticated brand image. The design, which won the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2021, reflects the dark and mysterious style of the Devil, the brand's protagonist.

Diablo Black is a wine that stands out from the crowd, not just for its superior winemaking, but also for its unique brand image. The design draws inspiration from the Devil, creating an intriguing and attractive brand that tempts consumers with its dark and mysterious style. The wine itself is made from grapes that have ripened to perfection in the acclaimed terroir of Maule, southern Chile, resulting in a wine that is generous, flavorful, and dark.

The design process for Diablo Black was a challenging one. The technical delivery was demanding, with several tests needed to achieve the desired effect of printing colors on shiny gold foil. The result is a Devil's face that can be seen between blacks, reds, and gold foil, giving the label a burnt appearance. This creative challenge was met with a design that successfully combines the tradition of the wine industry with the modernity of the brand's spirit.

Diablo Black is not just a product, but an experience. The brand focuses on daring and demanding consumers who value brands that set them apart as unique individuals. They select wines based not only on their quality or winemaking characteristics, but also on the values that the brand stands for. Diablo Black offers a value proposition that goes beyond the product itself, expanding to include a broader experience.

The project started in March 2019 in Santiago, Chile, and was launched a year later. The design team included Ximena Ureta, who provided art direction and design, Juan Rojas, who was responsible for production, and Acrus CCL Chile, who handled the printing. The label was offset printed in seven special colors on Estate #8 - Self-adhesive, using a range of pantone colors, matt gold foil, stamp, and UV Satin varnish.

Diablo Black is a testament to the power of design to create a unique brand image and experience. It is a pact with the extraordinary, where the serious and traditional give way to the sophisticated and disruptive. It is a wine that reflects the dark and mysterious style of its brand protagonist, the Devil, and tempts those who dare to be different.
